Alan Chartock in Conversation with Glenn Epstein

Glenn H. Epstein has been chief executive officer of Intermagnetics General Corporation since June 1999. Intermagnetics recruited him as president and chief operating officer in 1997, and he was elected to chairman of the board of directors in 2002.

Epstein graduated from the University of Vermont, College of Engineering, Math and Business Administration and subsequently completed management programs at the Institute European d’Administration des Affaires in Fontainbleau, France.

In June a Latham-based company, Intermagnetics General Corporation, was acquired by a Dutch electronics giant, Royal Philips Electronics. Intermagnetics is a manufacturer of magnets used in MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, devices and employs more than 500 people in the Capital Region. The purchase will make Latham the global headquarters of Philips’ MRI-manufacturing division and could mean big things for the economic development of the area.
